Additive Manufacturing, or 3D printing, is not a relatively new technology. Development started back in the 1980’s, but in the recent years it has really kicked off with its implementing of cheap plastic resulting in more consumer production.
More recently the technology has expanded to other materials, shown below is 3D printing with glass:
Other companies had started printing with tissue and other organic matter to aim for 3D printed organs! Something to look forward to in the near future! For now we’re still working with various plastics and metals to awesome affects.
We also have a 3D printing club hosted on campus. Mondays at 12:30-4:30pm in the Library!
