Dr. Rasha Roshdy has joined Coleman University as the Director of Research Programs.
In her new capacity, Dr. Roshdy will coordinate and conduct research activities for the University, manage the Institutional Research Board (IRB), and help develop our ability to receive and manage grants. Previously a part-time instructor in Graduate Studies, she will now be a member of our full-time faculty.
Dr. Roshdy started her career as a French language instructor. She held the position of Assistant Professor for seven years at Kansas State University and the University of Arizona. In her 11 years working for the federal government, she has held several positions: teacher trainer, curriculum developer and academic coordinator. In her last government position, she became the Academic Dean of the Foreign Language Program for Naval Special Warfare. This program won an award for excellence for two consecutive years under her leadership.
In 2014 she created Maven Connections Consulting and focused her career on research, including work with higher educational institutions from Saudi Arabia. She was named a research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Culture and Language at Norwich University in Vermont and was nominated as a mentor last summer by MiddCore, the leadership and innovation summer program of Middlebury College.
Dr. Roshdy obtained her doctorate in Educational Leadership from San Diego State University, her Master of Arts degree in Education and French from Kansas State University, and a higher diploma from The Sorbonne in Paris. She worked as a journalist in Egypt, her native country, and continues to write for several Arabic magazines and her own blog on Facebook, which has more than 37,000 followers.
Coleman University will be closed on Monday, May 30th, in observance of Memorial Day.
Classes for the new term will begin on Tuesday, May 31st.

The all-new Cybersecurity Club at Coleman University meets this Wednesday at 4pm in the Library. This student-led club offers Network & Cybersecurity students a chance to meet others in their program and form study groups for certification and classroom tests.

As Network Security/Cybersecurity Students, we need a way to network with each other. Forming study groups for taking Certification & Classroom tests, meeting professionals in the field, etc. There is a lot out there for us right now and the world is changing everyday. We need tools to help us keep up and one of the first places we should look at is ourselves.

Global Game Jam Returns!
The GGJ brings together talented individuals from within your community. It is a unique opportunity for people to push their skills and challenge their way of working. Participants work concurrently with developers around the globe; we rally around a central theme, and then have 48 hours to create a game. It’s our hope that we will see some very experimental realized prototypes that you can continue to work on after the jam. Many games developed in previous Game Jams have become fully realized games. The GGJ is open source, hardware & software agnostic and all projects are protected under a Creative Commons license. We encourage people to try out new ideas and push themselves, within reason. We also strongly encourage participants to remember to eat and sleep, to stay at their best!
The event is open to the public. No formal game development experience needed! Computer workstations and software will be provided; however, you are free to bring your own laptop or computer. Rooms will also be available for sleeping. Just bring your camping gear!
