career servicesColeman's Career Services Department work one-one with students to help turn their passion into an exciting career. The department partners with over 1500 local employers to bring a variety of professional opportunities to our well qualified pool of students.

The Career Services department provides a variety of professional development services from resume writing tips, to mock interviews, to employment assistance. In addition, Career Services Advisors:

  • Conduct workshops on a variety of job search topics such as resume writing, job searching and interviewing
  • Locate and develop job leads
  • Process job orders from local companies
  • Screen and send out resumes for jobs that match the qualifications and interests of the student
  • Advise students and graduates about all aspects of career placement
  • Keep students and graduates informed of job leads, local job fairs and other resources that may be of assistance in the job search process
  • Meet with local employers to cultivate relationships and encourage them to hire Coleman University graduates

Though Career Services Advisors cannot guarantee students employment, they provide the tools necessary to ensure that students practice effective job-hunting techniques. Our advisors work one-on-one with students to provide personalized professional development services. Additionally, they provide abundant professional development resources including a Career Services Workbook—which contains valuable information about writing winning resumes and cover letters, interviewing techniques, salary negotiating, business etiquette, and much more. As students draw closer to graduation, Career Services advisors will be there every step of the way to ensure that their job search is simple, efficient, and effective.

John D. Bullock
Computer Information Systems and Master's

John has several years of experience as a Recruiter from staffing IT personnel to senior call center managers, mechanical and electrical engineers along with admin, retail and telemarketing positions. John has also worked as a Training Coordinator teaching the concepts of persuasive communications, sales and performing technical writing for client services. As a former Supervisor at Dell Computers in Round Rock, TX, John supervised a team of five computer back-up operators in the main data center at Dell. Identified system malfunctions and initiated corrective action to ensure data integrity. Interacted with various user communities with in Dell and Iron Mountain to provide assistance and resolve issues. Proficient in the maintenance and operation of backup systems, data restoration processing, and recovery. Developed policies and standard operating procedures for tracking, analyzing and reporting statistical data reported to Dell management. John was also a Professional Naval Recruiter in Houston TX. Cathryn Chavez
Computer Networks and Computer Graphics Design

Cathryn previously worked for the SDSU Research Foundation WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program as an ISIS clerk. She scheduled appointments for participants while reviewing and analyzing each profile to accurately identify types of assistance and appointments. Cathy supervised and printed food vouchers to mail daily to all the participants in the WIC program. She developed and sharpened her skills as an effective communicator while interacting with ethnically and culturally diverse families. Cathy received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science/History, and Spanish at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas. She was active in the Sigma Delta Phi Honor Society. As a member, she did a variety of volunteer work both on and off campus. The volunteer work that Cathy did, help sharpened her skills in the work force environment and also enforced her proficiency in time management and prioritization.
