Open Access Journals and eBooks

Open access journals and eBooks are free to you to use and modify depending upon the author's license restrictions. The idea behind the open access movement is to encourage intellectual thought and contribution. This is most common in the science fields but is becoming more prevalent in other fields as well.

This site contains access to 14 open access journals in business-related subjects ranging from applied economics to diversity management to service science. You can browse by journal, issue, author, or title. You can also search journal content for any individual journal or for all 14 journals at the same time.

The self-proclaimed world's largest digital library of education literature, ERIC contains theses, dissertations, scholarly articles and other resources, many of which are full-text, to help with research in the field of education.

This search engine provide extensive search for scholarly research in one convenient location. Google Scholar weighs the full text, authorship, publisher, and how often the work has been cited in other literature to determine a relevancy ranking. The most relevant items will be at or near the top of the rankings.

Stanford University has assembled this collection of over 2 million free, trial, and pay-per-view journal articles. There are search and browse capabilities to make finding what you need easier.

If you limit your search to newspapers and magazines, the Internet Public Library is a great resource for open access and pay-per-view journal articles and periodicals.

This catalog contains access to over 1 million theses and dissertations. Collections are free resources from contributing member institutions and consortia. Scirus ETD (electronic thesis and dissertation) search makes the collections easy to search with both basic and advanced search features as well as subject limiters and the ability to limit your search by ETDs only or to search The Scholarly Web in general.

OpenThesis is a free repository of theses, dissertations, and other academic documents, coupled with powerful search, organization, and collaboration tools.

This self-described "World's biggest Open Access English Language journals portal" provides access to 9,000+ journals of which over 6,000 are peer-reviewed. Quick search, advanced search and browse capabilities are available as well as search help and the ability to limit by peer-reviewed and/or professional and industry journals.

PQDT Open provides the full text of open access dissertations and theses free of charge. The authors of these dissertations and theses have opted to publish as open access and make their research available for free on the open Web. Open Access Publishing is a new service offered by ProQuest Dissertation Publishing, and we expect to have many more open access dissertations and theses over time.

You can quickly and easily locate dissertations and theses relevant to your discipline, and view the complete text in PDF format.

A large collection of journals and ebooks from Springer Publications. Articles and books are available in a variety of subjects. You can limit your search to open access only to get journal articles and books that are free to download. TechToolBlog Over 300 open access books on various programming languages and continually growing. There is no search capability but the titles are organized alphabetically by language so they are easy to find. Topics range from Ada to XML.

Developed by the National Institutes of Health's National Library of Medicine (NIH/NLM) to disseminate scholarly writings in biomedical and life sciences to the public. The NIH/NLM puts journal submissions through a rigorous review process before they are accepted.
